巴瑞·曼尼洛Barry Manilow是美籍歌手/詞曲作者，本名Barry Alan Pincus，1943年生於紐約布魯克林，父系與母系都有部份猶太人的血統；Manilow是他母親的姓。自幼即嫻熟鋼琴與手風琴。在紐約音樂學院New York College of Music就讀時，他就在CBS電視台兼差，爾後又進入茱莉亞音樂學院就讀。他從1964年就開始寫歌劇，日後還寫了很多電視廣告配樂，並且為CBS電視台的一些節目寫配樂。1971~75年他是歌星貝蒂米勒Bette Midler的專屬鋼琴手、編曲者與音樂總監。

Barry Manilow於1973年發行了第一張自己的專輯，至2014年共有29張專輯、4張現場演唱錄音、15張精選輯、4部電影原聲帶：小迷糊闖七關(Foul Play, 1978)、父子情深(Tribute, 1980)、指拇奇緣(Thumbelina, 1994)、企鵝與水晶(The Pebble and the Penguin, 1995)。

在搖滾樂發光發熱的1970年代，他的通俗情歌經常受到樂評家的批評、喜劇演員的嘲諷，滾石樂團稱他是「我們這個時代玩雜耍的」。儘管如此，他還是擁有大量的歌迷。他唱的單曲中，有47首曾經進入排行榜前40名，包括有12首獲得排行榜第一名，27首進入排行榜前10名。他的唱片在全球銷量超過8千萬張。

Copacabana(At the copa)收錄在Barry Manilow的第五張大碟專輯Even Now【即使是現在】裏面，1978年2月發行，這張大碟銷售超過3百萬張。

直到1978年6月，其唱片公司(Arista Records)才決定將Copacabana(At the copa)發行單曲唱片，最高到達告示牌Billboard每週排行榜第8名，是1978全年排行榜第74名。Even Now大碟中選出的另外兩首單曲" Can't Smile Without You "與" Even Now "，也分別曾到達每週排行榜的第3名與第19名。。

5分44秒版本的Copacabana(At the copa)，另有一種3分48秒精簡版本，適合給(收音機)廣播電台播放。

1993年重新混音的加強節奏版；有趣的MV，由許多老電影片段剪輯而成。MV中的部份彩色片段，取自1985年CBS電視網的單元劇"Copacabana" ；就由Barry Manilow來飾演東尼，蘿菈由Annette O'Toole飾演。根據歌詞裏的故事，從1990至2005年共有他人推出過4種不同版本的"Copacabana"歌劇；但至2006年Barry Manilow才寫下了他自己的"Copacabana"歌劇版本。

* 歌詞中壞人的名字叫Rico，其實是Rich(有錢人)的意思。這是在描述一個貧富不均、黑道橫行的1940年代末期。雖然Copacabana在巴西，但是在故事中把它搬到了 Havana(古巴)，是為了歌詞押韻。而且說古巴爛，比較沒有人會抗議吧。

1960年代的Barry Manilow

1960年代時，Barry Manilow經常造訪紐約市一家名為"Copacabana"的夜總會(日後改為迪斯可舞廳)。有一回當Barry Manilow與Bruce Sussman在巴西的里約熱內盧"Copacabana"旅館時，兩人覺得這名字很有趣，就討論有沒有任何歌曲以此為歌名；Copacabana是里約熱內盧的一個行政區(在南端的一個沿海區)。回到美國後就請 Jack Feldman與Bruce Sussman寫詞，Barry Manilow自己作曲 - 他只花不到15分鐘就把主旋律寫完了。此曲也用在電影【小迷糊闖七關】(Foul Play, 1978)裏當插曲。這是他的第一張單曲金唱片- 銷售超過50萬張，Barry Manilow也因為此曲而贏得1979年最佳流行音樂男歌手葛萊美獎 - 是他僅有的一次。
